American Mask Project is an effort to provide critical supplies to essential workers and the public at large. It’s LA sewing factories and staff are working at full capacity to produce face masks as quickly as possible. American Mask Project provides free masks to staff and members of the Downtown Women's Center of Los Angeles to help maintain services during this critical time. The DWC is the only organization in Los Angeles focused exclusively on serving and empowering women experiencing homelessness and formerly homeless women.
Factories are operating under the strictest safety precautions and follow all guidelines as advised by the CDC.
Masks are not FDA approved as a medical device, nor certified as PPE (personal protective equipment). They are to provide some level of protection based on the CDC's recommendation that even DIY masks are helpful, but they are not a substitute for medical grade masks.
